Halloumi has been one of my favorite cheeses for as\nlong as I can remember. We\u2019ve always ordered fried halloumi in restaurants and\nit is on the menu of every middle eastern restaurant. Halloumi is a fridge\nstaple and we used it in pastries, shallow fry and serve it with tomatoes and\ncucumbers or serve it with fried eggs. Fried halloumi though is out of this world,\nI still remember the first time dad deep fried halloumi sticks for me, it was\nsooooo good! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><strong>Halloumi is a semi hard cheese and is\ntraditionally made of a mixture of sheep\u2019s and goat\u2019s milk. Well, I have a confession\nto make, I don\u2019t eat anything that has sheep\u2019s or goat\u2019s milk. I know these\ncheeses are usually everyone favorite\u2019s, but they\u2019re not mine. Anyway, this is\nwhy I always choose a variety that is made of cow\u2019s milk, which in my opinion\ntastes way better. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><strong>Now back to this recipe, the first time I had\nthe halloumi fries at the legendary Oli Baba\u2019s in London, I immediately fill in\nlove with them, and though I had been a halloumi fan my entire life, this took\nhalloumi to a new level mainly because of the toppings. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"http:\/\/test.thebitterolive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_0859_50-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"halloumi fries\" class=\"wp-image-2422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.thebitterolive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_0859_50-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/test.thebitterolive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_0859_50-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/test.thebitterolive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_0859_50-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><strong>This recipe is my own take on the Oli baba\u2019s fries. Though I think they\u2019re similar, they don\u2019t have the added spicy element, which in my opinion is absolutely not needed in this recipe. Don\u2019t take me wrong I love spicy food, but I think it overpowers the taste of cheese, so I skipped it altogether. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n\n\n<h2><strong>Let\u2019s get cooking!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><strong>First of prepare the flour. Adding zaatar mix and\nsumac to the flour is a game changer and will makes the fries taste good on\ntheir own without any additions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><strong>Leftover flour can be reused, since it doesn\u2019t\nget in contact with raw food. So, feel free to store it for the next time you\nwill be preparing this, because you surely will!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><strong>Halloumi cheese usually comes in 220-250 g packages. This makes 10 delicious fries. How many potions that is, is totally up to you \ud83d\ude09 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><strong>The toppings here are not be thought of as\ngarnish. They actually make the fries taste 100 times better and in my opinion\nare all equally important. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><strong>I shallow fry the sticks but have seen versions\nof them deep fried or even baked. Feel free to experiment.
